Overview

We are looking for a Customer Insights Specialist to gather insights through interviews and surveys, enabling us to understand critical unmet needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong listening and communication skills, data analysis expertise, and organizational abilities.

Because we are in the early stages, the rate is $30 to $50 per completed interview deliverable that could take 1-2 hours (survey, interview, and synthesis — see Responsibilities for more details), with flexibility for a higher rate and raises for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

The percentages indicate the likely portion of time spent. Over time, these may shift in new directions based on your interests, proven abilities, and additional support. For instance, high performers may be promoted to an innovation advisor/coach.
 
Data (70%)
• Survey Management: Design and distribute surveys to customers, actively monitoring response rates to ensure completion.
• Schedule and Conduct Interviews: Lead customer development interviews to gather qualitative insights from participants.
• Note-Taking and Recording: Jot down detailed notes during interviews, accurately record sessions and generate transcripts, and organize this data in easily-accessible areas online.
 
Analysis (20%)
• Summarize Findings: Create concise summaries of each interview, highlighting key insights and actionable feedback.
• Data Coding and Synthesis: Code interview data for analysis and synthesize findings to identify patterns and trends.
 
Improvement (10%)
• Process Improvement Recommendations: Analyze gathered data to recommend process improvements
• Create or refine content drafts to post on a blog, ensuring alignment with audience interests and organizational goals.
 
 

Success Metrics

• High interviewee satisfaction rate. You will engage with a diverse range of interviewees, from senior leaders (such as VPs, CEOs, and Board Chairs) to everyday staff. It’s essential to establish credibility and connect effectively with both groups.
• Predictable and efficient request completion
• Work quality and completeness, meeting the intent of and specific instructions related to the request.
• Strong skills using Google docs, forms, sheets, and slides
